Breast & Cervical Cancer Prevention & Early Detection Program.
Every year, thousands of Nigerian women die of cervical and breast cancer largely from late diagnosis. Late diagnosis of cancer is often linked to lack of awareness, misconception, myths, poverty, and inadequate screening programs for early detection. Today, cancer can be prevented and is no longer an automatic death sentence.
The YAC project is also an important tool for the prevention of other chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, since they share common risk factors, including alcohol, tobacco, unhealthy diets, tobacco use and lack of physical activity.
YAC‘s Prevention and Early Detection program include:
- promoting healthy lifestyle
- Creating awareness of early signs & symptoms
- Screening for early detection including prompt referral for treatment.
