Project aim is to increase the percentage of cancer cases diagnosed at early stage and reduce the risk of preventable deaths from cancer and some non-communicable diseases.
YAC project is also an important tool for the prevention of cancer and other non-communicable diseases, such as Hypertension, Coronary Heart Diseases and Diabetes, Respira since they share common risk factors with cancer.
Additionally, the culture of silence and shame associated with ailments affecting the sexual organs makes it difficult for our women to openly talk about breast or cervical cancer. Today cancer can be prevented and is no longer an automatic death sentence.
YAC project is also an important tool for the prevention of other chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, since they share common risk factors, including alcohol, tobacco, unhealthy diets, tobacco use and lack of physical activity.
YAC‘s Prevention and Early Detection program include:
- promoting healthy lifestyle
- Creating awareness of early signs & symptoms
- Screening for early detection including prompt referral for treatment.
